The International Academy Guardians held its first ever soccer tournament, the Guardians Cup. The two day event was held at the local gym and where the Guardians team hosted 3 other soccer clubs. In addition to the games, IA also held a penalty shoot out competition for the players and their teams.
After a first day of tough competition, the IA Guardians landed themselves a place in the first place match and would be playing Golieador, another very competitive and tough team. The championship match was a hard fought battle, but in the final minutes of the game, David the leading scorer for the team, was able to shoot past the opposing team’s goalie to put the team ahead 4:3. The team went on to hold this lead until the final whistle.
The school is extremely proud of Coach K for all the hard work she has put in to the team. In just her second season with the team, she has raised the level of the team’s play be several factors and it was very apparent in the tournament.
